Speculative fiction invites us to think about how things could be, but it might not be what you imagine when you think about Jewish literature. As Reconstructionists, we know Marge Piercy as a poet whose work we read regularly in services, but she has also written more than a dozen novels. We’ll read and discuss her 1991 book He, She, and It across three winter evenings. The novel is set in a Reconstructionist Jewish enclave, and it addresses themes of climate change, corporate power, global politics, gender and sexuality, and artificial intelligence. Join Sherry Linkon for a journey into Piercy’s remarkably accurate vision of the future. Sherry Lee Linkon is a Professor of English and Director of the Writing Program at Georgetown University.
