Days of Awe September 2018 - Tishrei 5779

HeaderLft

Welcome to the Jewish New Year season!

We take inspiration from this medieval Hebrew poem, which says (in poetic translation), “Let the past year’s challenges and obstacles now be complete, and let the new year’s blessings and potential now begin.” Indeed, our moral courage is called upon today in ways that few of us have experienced before. Our entry into a new year invites perspective and reflection, even praise and thanks, despite our fears and our doubts.

We’ve been given the enormous blessing of a new year to begin again! We join our spirits, minds, hearts, voices, and bodies with optimism for new possibilities. Soon we’ll join together to learn and pray, love and forgive, dream and build. May the challenges of the past year now take their places in our life’s archives, as we ready ourselves to welcome the new season with joy and gratitude.

We eagerly await the opportunity to greet each of you throughout the season. Shana Tovah!

VOLUNTEERING: AVODAH

SignUpGeniusThe Adat Shalom community is built on volunteerism. Volunteering for the Days of Awe is a special mitzvah, and another way of actualizing our core value of Avodah (labor, service, prayer). Because our Days of Awe could not take place without the talents and hard work of many volunteers, even a single hour of service is immensely helpful. There are numerous opportunities to get involved and we ask you to please share in this community event by clicking the “Sign Up!” button to your left and completing the online form.

We work hard to provide meaningful holiday experiences for young people, youth, teens and families; knowing who will be attending is critical to our success. You can see the full list of Youth Programming here.
• Adat Shalom will provide snacks, but not lunch. Please pack/plan appropriately!
• Children 5 to 18 years old must be either in youth programming spaces or in the sanctuary with parents – this request is to ensure the safety of our children, as well as respect for the facility.
• Member parents are required to volunteer to insure youth programs are appropriately supervised. Please sign up on this form.
