Get to know us
We appreciate your interest in Adat Shalom and encourage you to surf our website to find out more about our synagogue community. More importantly, we invite you to visit. Please join us on a Shabbat morning when services begin at 9:30 a.m. At Adat Shalom you will find a spiritual home, an unusually warm and embracing community, and a place to enrich your Jewish life. When you visit us, please stay for our trademark member-provided oneg lunch after services - it's a great opportunity to sit and talk with other members at our Welcome table in the Social Hall.
Since our founding in 1988, we have attracted a diverse and deeply committed membership.
Our members are Jews of all ages, life stations, sexual orientations, and income levels. We have attracted members from every branch of Judaism as well as those from other faith traditions. We welcome new members regardless of their Jewish knowledge or level of observance and take pride in the fact that we have created a culture that encourages and supports ongoing Jewish growth.
In addition to Shabbat services, we welcome and encourage you to attend other services and programs that are mentioned on our website. Look on the Home Page for the upcoming activities each week. Click on the 'Spiritual Community' tab at the top of this page to find additional information about attending High Holiday services.
I want to learn more about joining Adat Shalom
If you are interested in learning more about Adat Shalom or in becoming a member, please click the 'Send for Membership Information' link (above right) to send an e-mail. You will be contacted by the Membership Committee co-chairs to tell you more about our community and to answer any questions you may have. More information about Adat Shalom, along with a membership application, can be mailed to you after you have had a chance to speak with someone from membership. We can also add you to the list for weekly e-mails regarding the schedule for upcoming events.
Prospective and New Member Programs
We work closely with new members to connect them with programs, groups, and classes that appeal to their interests. There are New Member activities throughout the year when you will be invited into members' homes and to the synagogue to learn more about our community and how you can get involved.
Adat Shalom offers prospective members the opportunity to meet and ask questions of clergy, board members and others in the community at our Meet the Community gatherings held periodically throughout the year.
We also offer:
- New Member Havdalah and dessert reception
- Shabbat dinner in another member's home.
- New Member Spring Brunch
Your introductory year ends with "Red Dot Shabbat," when all new members are called to the bima for a group aliyah.
Special Rates for Households Under 35
For members under 30, dues will be $180 per person, $360 per couple. No building fund fee will be charged. This membership will not be subject to the “standard” dues increases, but remain fixed until it is specifically changed.
For members 30 through 35, dues will be 50% of regular dues. No building fund fee will be charged. When a member turns 36, the first year of the building fund fee will be charged along with full dues.
In the case of couples, the older one’s age governs.
